FAQ

What are your hours?

Monday-Wednesday 4pm-9pm CST and Saturdays by appointment only

Where do you practice?

My practice is fully telehealth and I am licensed to work with anyone located in Florida or Louisiana. I can provide private yoga sessions and health coaching to individuals located anywhere.

Is online therapy as effective as face-to-face therapy?

Research shows that online therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for many people. Online therapy is not the best format for everyone, or the best format for every presenting problem. Reach out to me if you wonder whether online therapy will be a good fit so we can discuss.

How much do you charge?

Rates for Therapy* (Effective January 1, 2023)

Initial Assessment (75 minute video session) – $175

60 minute video psychotherapy – $155

Equitable Access Rate (optional charge for those with greater means seeking to support improved access to care for individuals of marginalized groups): $200 per 60 minute appointment

I have a limited number of sliding scale spots available, based on demonstrated need. Documentation of need is required for record-keeping purposes.

Do you take insurance? How can I make treatment more affordable?

Clients in Florida can use United Healthcare, Oxford, Oscar, Cigna and Aetna. Florida insurance clients will be billed using a third party platform called Headway

In Louisiana, I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and can assist you in filing for reimbursement using Out of Network benefits, or using your FSA/HSA account.

I accept Out of Network coverage for clients in Florida and Louisiana. (If your insurance plan says PPO, you probably have this.)  If you are located in Florida, the Advekit platform will help make using Out of Network benefits convenient, and will allow you to only pay what you owe once your insurance pays for services, instead of having to pay full price and then get reimbursed. Louisiana clients can still have some extra convenience by filing Out of Network claims using Reimbursify.

Some clients appreciate the affordability offered by using health insurance, but it is important to fully understand what information is required to be shared with the insurance company. Insurance companies try to dictate psychotherapy approaches and timelines in a way that can interfere with treatment, and documentation requirements can interfere with a client’s right to privacy. I also have to diagnose you with a mental health condition for insurance to cover treatment. Some clients choose to be self-pay rather than using their insurance for these reasons. We can discuss this more in the initial session. You are also welcome to email me if you have any questions or concerns related to using or not using your insurance.

Is there anything else I should know?

Online therapy is not a good fit for everyone, and may not be the best fit for your situation. It is not appropriate for crisis situations or emergencies, and my practice is not structured to accommodate crisis situations. If you are having an emergency, you should call 911 or report to the nearest ER.  I also provided some hotline information under Get Help Now.
