Modern society wants us to live from the neck up, centering the brain as the source of everything. This is not "wrong", but it is incomplete. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is known as a “top down” approach. CBT has helped a lot of people, but it doesn’t help everyone… and some people just don’t like it. Luckily, there are other pathways we can pursue.
Somatic practices help you get out of your head and into your body. This is known as a “bottom - up” approach. In somatic work, we start with the bodily sensations to help you shift your felt experience.
